Know Thyself

Crossing Cultures 101 Part 1

Know Thyself is aimed at anyone interested in cross-cultural living - whether you are thinking about moving to another country, living in a cross-cultural setting, or working with people from different cultures.

The course is focused on you; hence the name! It provides a space to reflect and learn about your own cultural lens and highlights how this may influence the way we interact with situations and others, especially in a cross-cultural environment. Doing this course alongside others online, in a cohort, is a great opportunity to learn from a wide range of experiences and share your cross-cultural journey.

Course Creator

Christine Paterson

Christine was brought up in a mission environment – her parents served together for over forty years as missionaries in Africa, where she spent her early years. This unique background has helped her to be the support and ministry partner for her husband Ross in the various countries and continents to which the Lord has led them over the years. A qualified coach and cross-cultural tutor, as well as blogger on the topic of crossing cultures, Christine has lived and breathed this for decades!

Your Facilitator

Ben Gilbert

Ben is our Dean of Studies. Growing up as a missionary kid had a range of challenges, not least when he returned 'home' to the UK and found he didn't really fit in. Ever since, Ben has held a range of educational and missional posts, and we're delighted to have him on board with us at FieldPartner! He's currently based in Sri Lanka with his wife Shiyani and their children.

"Excellent and very insightful…I need to think on this more, a lot more! This should be part of all church discipleship programmes."
